Track on Tuesday: Back Down South

Album: Come Around Sundown
Artist: Kings of Leon
Genre: Alternative Rock
Label: RCA
Released: 19 October 2010
My Review: This song sort of embodies summer for me, seriously.  It also feel like it has a little bit more of a country-home feel that Kings of Leon has the potential to really embody.  Out of all of their tracks on all of their albums, Back Down South feels the most authentic to me.  It also sounds the most like where they’re from (Tennessee).  When I think of Tennessee Rock, this is the song that comes to mind.  It embodies the older stuff that used to come out of the South, just a little bit updated.  I see this song being played on front porches in the summer time, or wafting through the doors of barn parties at midnight.  Mostly I hear it blasting out of my car’s sound system with the windows down nearly every time I drive home from work. Love.

Come on out and dance
If you get the chance
We're gonna spit on the rivals
All I wanna know
Is how far you wanna go
Fighting for survival

Underneath the stars
Where we parked the cars
Ain't showing signs of stopping
Pretty little girls
Naked to their curves
Ready to lay in a coffin

If you wanna go,
I'm gonna go
I got a fire burning
Go on take my hand
When we see the band
Baby's gonna be a big one,
oh yeah Baby's gonna be a big one

When you see the lights
And we hear the fights
It's gonna be a stunner
I've got something here
If you give me one more beer
I'm gonna call a runner

I don't wanna say what
I have to say
Babe I'm a' kicking off now
If you wanna go,
I'm gonna go
I'm going back down south now
I'm going back down south now
I'm going back down south now

If you wanna go
I'm going back down south now
Come on take my hand
I'm going back down south now
When you see the light
And we hear those fights
I'm going back down south now

All I wanna know
Is how far you wanna go
I'm going back down south now
I'm going back down south now
I'm going back down south now
I'm going back down south now
